The Protection Island Lantern Festival is back celebrating the return of the light and spring growth on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Pirates Park at 7pm. Inner Core Design helps to launch the fifth annual Protection Island Lantern Festival. The theme this year is lantern monsters! Come and walk the labyrinth, add your lantern to it, and face the monsters, they are actually quite friendly. Let's celebrate creativity, music, art and community connected by the wonderful planet we share! Latest Entry – April 19th, 2009
A last minute table will once again be available for any last-minute lantern makers. Make your lanterns in the park inspired by the new candlelit creations around you. Expect hot chocolate from the fire department to keep you warm and cozy, a few bonfires this time for spontaneous music, and the P.I. ferry for half price ferry rides for the 6:10 and 7:10 ferries for all those who bring a lantern with them. Thanks to Josephine for running the lantern making workshop yesterday down at Beacon House. A good turnout of P.I.'s young and young at heart created lanterns from recycled material and natural beach treasures. We then headed down to Pirates Park for a pre-festival cleanup, beach wood burning collection and seashell lining of the path. We're looking for musicians so if you'd like to perform, please join us. We're also hoping you'll help us create a light maze by adding your lantern to light the labyrinth!
